Assayer: “VR” Pedro de Villar
Ruler/Period: King Philip III
Grade: Uncertified

Description: This beautiful and well-preserved Spanish two reales cob displays a well centered and detailed pillars and waves on the obverse, boldly struck assayer mark “VR”, mint mark “P”, and II reales denomination marks. The reverse shows the date at the bottom “91” for 1691.

Although the coin is slightly underweight and probably clipped early on, the details of this coin are spectacular. The reverse clearly shows nice details around the Jerusalem cross with castles and lions in the octolobe.

This coin has a thin flan, and shows gorgeous untouched striation marks on the obverse from the die strike. A gorgeous nearly uncirculated piece of Spanish Colonial history!
