Description: This is a rare mint state example of a 4 reales cob minted at the Granada mint near the beginning of the Golden Age of Spain’s expansion to the New World. This coin is extremely well preserved and is as about as perfect of an example of a Spanish cob as you can get.

On the obverse you see a very well struck Habsburg shield, assayer, mint mark, crown, and partial legend. On the obverse you see a centered cross with sharply struck castles, lions, and full legend bathed in beautiful golden toning. Spanish cobs simply don’t come this nice very often.
