Description: A rare find of a coin! This is an Ecu, also known as a Philipsdaalder, struck in the Spanish Netherlands in 1588 under the reign of King Philip II of Spain. This large silver coin resembles more of a thaler or similar European large silver coin than what was struck by the Spanish in the 16th century. This coin was among the last produced under Spanish rule of the lands, and the Netherlands would see their full lands retaken within a few decades. This is the only example graded by PCGS, and is a brilliant example.
