Description: A wonderful 8 reales from the Mexico City mint set in a 14K yellow gold bezel! The large planchet of the coin was just asking to be set in a gold mount. The coin is lightly struck compared to other examples out there, and the obverse shield shows signs of surface tarnish/corrosion consistent with pieces recovered near the ocean on land. Total weight if 34.72 grams.
