Description: This is one of the finest early Mexico minted 8 reales you will find. The large planchet shows off much of the original details on the die, including the complete shield, full cross and a full 1609 date. The only reason this piece received a details grade is due to a small ding on the reverse rim of the coin at the 11 o’clock position, which PCGS deemed as rim damage. A majority of these coins have all received scratches, dings and marks, none of which take away from the beauty and rarity of the coins themselves. Very few examples have been graded from 1609, with this piece being 1 of 3 graded at PCGS.
