Description: For collectors of Potosi 8 Reales cobs, the pre 1620 pieces are some of the most desirable. Made highly popular from the many examples found on the shipwreck of the Atocha in the 1980s, these cobs are magnificent sea salvaged or pristine about uncirculated specimens like this one. With a strong strike, a full crown, much of the legend still intact, and a well centered reverse, it’s no wonder these coins are so hot right now. Coins from this period do not often get a straight grade, so to find a piece like this with a strong AU-50 grade is fantastic. This coin is a perfect piece for any collector, new or existing!
