Description: This well-preserved Spanish Colonial 8 reales cob displays a well centered and nearly complete shield on the obverse and a well struck “OMD” representing the mint and assayer. To the left of the “O” you will see the lower portion of a “2” from the coin’s date, which is rare. The reverse displays a well centered Jerusalem Cross with the castles and lions partially visible.  This style of cob is very similar to that of the many found on the wreck of the Atocha.

This cob is a perfect Piece of Eight for any Spanish treasure collection!
