Description: This 8 reales cob was recovered from the wreck famously known as the Spice Islands Shipwreck which was found near the Spice Islands themselves. Many coins were recovered from this wreck and the only authentic pieces were graded and encapsulated by NGC as genuine. This piece is a choice example that has the mint and assayer’s marks visible, much of the shield, and a nice cross on the reverse. A great cob for any collector!
