Description: This is a rare near Mint State example of a Spanish Colonial Piece of Eight graded by PCGS as AU-58. This coin happens to be a rare die variety where the assayer’s initial “P” was struck over a previous assayer’s initial “T”. This example displays a complete Habsburg shield on the obverse along with the mint mark and assayer’s initial. On the reverse you have a full cross with nicely struck castles and lions.  Original mint luster is present on both sides of this near mint state coin, which is very rare for Spanish Colonial cobs from this period.

According to the PCGS database, this specimen is the finest example graded to date.
