Description: This is a rare Spanish Colonial 8 reales cob, better known as a “Piece of Eight”. Spanish Colonial cobs are highly sought after, especially those minted in Mexico. This piece displays the majority of the shield on the obverse, along with the mint marks and assayer’s initial. On the reverse, you have an almost complete cross and nice details of the castles and lions. According to the NGC census, only 2 coins of this series have been graded higher.
