Description: This is an exceptional surviving example of a Potosi 1 real that was only minted by this assayer for 1 year. This finest known example has everything you would want in a cob. On the obverse you have a well centered and almost complete Hapsburg shield with a portion of the crown, visible “P” mint mark, “E” assayer and the denomination “I” to the right of the shield.

On the reverse you have a perfectly centered cross with well defined castles and lions and an abundance of mint luster.

In the world of Spanish cobs, precious few of these small denomination coins have survived, especially in this high grade of preservation.
