Description: A solid example of a Potosi 8 reales minted in the “post-transitional” period where the mint was back minting the world standard for silver coins. This particular example boasts the fancy style pillars on the obverse, strong mint marks and the words PLV SVL TRA which is Latin for PLUS ULTRA, which means “More Beyond”. The strong cross on the reverse stands out among the softer spots of the die strike as well as the assayers initial and mint mark. Overall, this is a great example of a Piece of Eight that would be perfect for any collection!
