Description: A wonderful example! What sets this piece apart from other British crowns is that this coin was made into a memento piece, likely for a loved one who passed away in 1764. The reverse has been engraved with the name of the individual and the year it was done. These pieces come up occasionally and demand a premium due to this engraving. Engraving coins for the passing of a loved one was very common practice in the UK in the Georgian and Victorian eras.
