Description: An absolutely stunning 8 Reales struck at the Lima mint in Peru in 1698. This coin embodies the height of Spanish cobs produced in the New World, and is the finest example graded for the year. With so many wonderful details visible, this coin is the example you need in your collection. The surfaces have a natural tone, no corrosion or wear, and it is wonderfully struck. The 1698 date is visible, along with much of the defining details of the Pillars and Waves. Much of the cross is visible on the reverse, including denomination, assayers mark, and the top of the date at the bottom of the cross. This is an extreme rarity as many examples of these coins did not survive in nearly as nice condition from this time.
