Description: This is one of the most sought after gold cobs from the New World. The obverse boasts a nice centered shield, with a strongly stuck and well centered cross on the reverse. The most fantastic feature of this piece is the presence of coral encrustation in the devices of the obverse shield, which indicates that this coin was definitely sea salvaged! A truly wonderful piece that was likely recovered from the wrecks of the 1715 Fleet.
