Item #CC-0769 | 1714-15 Mexico 8 Reales – Sea Salvaged
Mint: Mexico City
Assayer: J
Ruler/Period: King Philip V
Weight: 26.6 grams
Description: A great example from the turn of the 18th century. This 8 reales has great centering, full shield and crown on the obverse, with a nicely centered cross on the reverse. The coin was found 30 years ago on the east coast of Florida from one of our clients. They conserved it and had it in their collection ever since. While there is no paperwork for this coin (being it was not found by one of the salvage companies), it is a wonderful surviving example from the famous 1715 Fleet treasure sites.
