Item #CC-0769 | 1706-1715 Mexico 8 Reales NGC VF Details – 1715 Fleet Shipwreck
Mint:  Mexico City
Assayer: J
Ruler/Period: King Philip V
Weight: 26.6 grams

Description: A great example from the turn of the 18th century. This 8 reales has great centering, full shield and crown on the obverse, with a nicely centered cross on the reverse. The coin was recovered from the wreck sites of the 1715 Fleet, along the East Coast of Florida, sometime in the last 50 years. Additionally, the shield type of this coin is that of examples struck in 1715, leading us to believe this is actually the rarest of all 1715 Fleet coins, the ones struck in the early months of 1715!
