Description: An interesting counter stamp on a 1721 Madrid 2 reales, also known as a pistareen! These coins were among the first “modern” looking reales minted in Spain, while the rest of the mints of the new world were still producing cob coinage; irregular shaped. The stamp on the obverse is curious, and we are still researching what it could be from. We do however think it may be from the South Pacific or Asian areas.
