Description: This gorgeous specimen of a coin was recovered from a famous wreck known as “The Clive of India”. The ship, named the Doddington, a British East India Company vessel, wrecked off the coast of South Africa on July 17, 1755 where her cargo and much of the crew were lost. The treasure was recovered in the 1980’s where much of it went to auction a couple decades later and entered the public market. This exquisite piece is one of only 19 graded specimens in the NGC database, and the only one we have seen so far with the beautiful new Shipwreck Certification tab in the holder. Own a wonderful piece of history from a less well known wreck!
