Description: An attractive coin from the highly sought after Guatemala mint. This coin would be a high AU example had it not been for a small ding on the reverse. Overall, a very attractive coin! This coin was struck during a chaotic era when the Central American federation was actively fracturing. Because of this historical backdrop and its beautiful design, it is highly prized by world coin collectors.
Obverse: Features a radiant sun with a face rising behind a mountain range of five volcanoes (representing the five founding states of the federation: Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica).
Reverse: Features a large Ceiba tree dividing the “8” and the “R”, surrounded by the patriotic motto “LIBRE CRESCA FECUNDO” (May it grow free and fruitful).
