Description: This beautifully preserved uncirculated 1913 Indian Eagle is graded in an old NGC holder as Mint State 61. This coin is definitely a premium quality specimen and appears to be under graded by at least a point. The photos don’t do this coin justice as it displays dazzling cartwheel luster and superb eye appeal.

This U.S. gold type gold coin is part of a series of $10.00 Indian head gold coins known as Eagles, which were minted from 1908-1933.

The obverse of the coin displays lady Liberty wearing a native American war bonnet or headdress surrounded by 13 stars representing the original 13 colonies. The war bonnet has the word “LIBERTY” boldly displayed at its base.

The reverse of the coin displays a standing eagle clutching a bundle of arrows and a branch in its claws.  The eagle is centered in the design with the words “UNITED . STATES . OF . AMERICA  at the top and TEN . DOLLARS at the bottom. To the left of the eagle is “IN GOD WE TRUST” and at the upper right is “E PLURIBUS UNUM”, which is a Latin phrase meaning “Out of many, one” .

This coin is a wonderful example of turn of the century U.S. gold and would make a fabulous addition to any U.S. gold type set.
