Description: This is a rare and well struck example of a 2 Reales minted in Potosi, Bolivia in 1691!

On the obverse of this coin, you can clearly see a “VR” assayer mark, which stands for Pedro Villar, a “P” mint mark for “Potosi”, a number “2” for the denomination, a “91” for the date 1691 and most of the Pillars of Hercules.  On the reverse, you see a beautifully struck Jerusalem cross with the castles and lions, a “VR” assayer mark, a “91” for 1691, and the “2” for the denomination. The overall eye appeal of this coin is fantastic.

Although 2 Reales should weigh closer to 6.77 grams, this coin was likely clipped so a small piece of silver could be used to pay or trade for something. 2 Reales minted in Potosi during this period and in this quality are extremely difficult to find and this one will make a perfect addition to any collection of Spanish Colonial cobs or pirate treasure!

This coin will also make a perfect pendant!
