Description: This choice 8 reales was recovered from the Spanish shipwreck the Concepción, which sank in 1641 off the coast of Hispaniola (now known as the Dominican Republic).
As you can see from our photos, this coin exhibits much of its design details including the denomination, assayers mark, much of its shield and Jerusalem Cross. This coin comes complete with it’s original certificate of authenticity, vinyl holder, and 2×2 flip card.
Spanish colonial shipwreck cobs are highly sought after, especially in the higher denominations and this example is a superb example from the Concepción Shipwreck.
