Population by NGC: FINEST KNOWN EXAMPLE!

Description: This beautiful 1591 over 1590 2 escudos gold cob is extremely rare and happens to be the finest example graded by NGC. It has the unique designation as being the “Top Pop”.

As you can see from our photos, this coin exhibits beautiful original luster, a well centered and defined shield and Jerusalem Cross, and a bold “S” for the Seville mint. It also displays a full and clear date and many of the other design features that are often missing on similar gold cobs from this era. The reverse is double struck, which adds to the coin’s character and highlights the assayers workmanship.

Mint State Spanish gold cobs are highly sought after and this example will be a great addition to any Spanish gold cob collection!
