Description: This is a rare fully dated 1655 8 reales or “Piece of Eight” minted in Mexico City during the reign of King Philip IV. The obverse displays a full 1655 date, mint mark, assayer and much of the shield. On the reverse, you have a well centered Jerusalem cross and much of the details for the castles and lions. Another unique feature about this coin is that it has a hole from an air bubble when it was minted! Other than a small scratch on the reverse, this coin is a great example of a coin that has survived over 350 years.
If you are a collector of Spanish Colonial coinage, cobs, or treasure this coin is for you!
