On the obverse of this coin, you can clearly see two “H” assayer marks, an “L” mint mark for Lima and the pillars of Hercules over the waves.  On the reverse, you see a beautifully struck Jerusalem cross with the castles and lions and a “96” at the bottom.

Lima 8 Reales in this quality are extremely difficult to find and without a doubt, a rare and original example of a Piece of Eight. This specimen will make a perfect addition to any collection of Spanish Colonial cobs or pirate treasure!
